Iain Lygo

Iain Lygo (Adventure for Life’s founder)

Iain has worked in tourism for the last 17 years, specialising in corporate team building for the last seven years. He has worked in the ski and surf industry, coached cricket, surfing and soccer, and has travelled extensively.

Iain speaks Bahasa Indonesia and Bahasa Malay and has a deep knowledge of adventure activities available in South East Asia.
Despite being on the experienced side of 40 he still competes in adventure races, mountain bike events, triathlons, and swimming races.

Adventure interests include: Surfing, skiing, mountain biking, hiking and white water kayaking.



Sharlene Barber

Sharlene is our newest recruit and an expert in graphic design, corporate identity, and brand management. Sharlene has been involved in major European sporting events, providing crucial behind the scenes work to maximise sponsors exposure.

Originally from South Africa, Sharlene lived in London for 15 years and has recently moved to Australia.

In her spare time, she can be found paddling her kayak or fishing for dinner. She also adds a much needed feminine influence to the team at Adventure for Life.

 



Andrew Lygo

Andrew is our Mountain Man. While living in Colorado, Andrew scaled numerous of the state’s “Fourteeners” (14,000 ft+ peaks) during all seasons. He has also scaled many of South America’s highest peaks, attempted Alaska’s 20,000 foot Mount Denali, and been to Everest base camp.

Andrew is also an experienced rock and ice climber, and wilderness bush walker.

He is an accomplished skier and snowboarder, and has participated in numerous overnight cross country adventures in the Australian and North American wilderness.

Andrew has also lead school leadership tours to Vietnam, Peru and India.

When not guiding for AFL, Andrew is a teacher at one of Sydney’s best private schools.



Phil Avery

Phil is an Outdoor Educator/ facilitator and youth worker with vast experience. He has facilitated people’s development through outdoor adventure experiences for over 2 decades, including many years experience running Wilderness Adventure Therapy® programs in clinical, community and school settings. In addition, Phil has over a decade of experience in developing and running youth services and innovative youth development programs. For the last 5 years, he has been teaching adventure leadership, Tourim and safety management at the Gordon Institute in Geelong, Victoria. Phil holds numerous qualifications in teaching, adventure activity facilitation, was a Ski Patroller at Mount Buller Alpine Resort, and is an accredited Wilderness Adventure Therapy® Assistant.



Callum Dixon

Callum is the youngest member of the AFL team and he is currently studying his bachelor of health science (Paramedics) in Melbourne. Despite only being 23, his easy going nature and quiet confidence means he is a natural born leader.
Callum has been coaching swimming for the past six years and has his bronze medallion and level 1 surf instructor’s certificate. He also excels in the mountains and has taught skiing and taken tour groups to Whistler, Canada. Callum has travelled extensively in Europe and North America to take part in his two main passions of surfing and skiing.
